The Geography and Climate of NYC

New York City is in the North-East of America. The Hudson River flows through the Hudson Valley into New York Bay. In New York there are five boroughs these are:
  -Manhattan
  -The Bronx
  -Brooklyn
  -Queens
  -Staten Island
Brooklyn is the most populated borough in New York City. New York City has a total land area of 1,214 kilometres squares.

In New York City they have a humid subtropical climate. During Winter the City has cold and wet weather, normally temperature during winter is about 3.5°C sometimes temperatures can drop all the way down to -18°C. The city many times has been a city covered in snow.

During the Summer months the city can get very hot and humid because of the high rise buildings and highly populated city. The average temperature is about 28.9°C during July in the City.
The coldest temperature ever recorded were -26 °C which was on Feburary 9, 1934 and highest was 41 °C on July 9, 1936.

Altogether about 1,260mm falls fairly throughout the year. About 68cm of snow falls on average each year, this has been taken from the averages of the years of 1981-2010. Tropical storms and hurricanes are rare in the City but aren't impossible to occur. In October 29, 2012 Hurricane Sandy hit. It flooded subway tunnels, paths, roadways in Lower Manhattan and cut off electricity in most of the city.
